QUIET TALKS ON THE GOSPEL

I received a phone call from a young woman and she stated this:          "You have 5 mInutes to talk me out of an abortion." She asked, "If I go through with this, will I go to hell?"                            

I talked to a DP&L guy once about electricity . . he really tried to explain it to me . . but I could not grasp the technicalities.  How about  you?  However, not understanding it does not keep us from enjoying the benefits of having it.  Plus we are using faith when we flip the switch that we believe the light or gadget will come on.

The negative side is the negative version of "The Golden Rule".  Putin not only does not do good to others, he does evil to others that he would not want done to himself and the ones he (cares?) about.

It will help you understand today's podcast.  A young widow dressed in black is kneeling beside the bed.  A toddler is on the bed while a picture of her soldier husband is on the wall.  Jesus is standing in a light with a hand extended to comfort her.  How many widows are there now from Ukraine and other parts of the world?  My husband who was injured in VietNam says 'war is a terrible thing'.    

If a person you know 'swears like a sailor' or its 'chronically rude to waitresses or a sales person or blatantly makes fun of church or our Savior . . those would be important clues.  Keep your eyes open to make assessments as well as listen with your ears while praying for answers.  I'm not saying you cannot be friends with such a person because Scripture states 'if possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men."  Romans 12:18. Maybe you can influence them for the good!

I was shaking.  Not just on the outside, but on the inside too.  I had just finished watching a 2nd video beamed to the U. N. Security Council from Vladimir Zelenskyy.  Atrocities appeared shrouded in an eerie darkness especially in the faces of the tortured . . and children!  there were women (I saw the painted finger nails) and ones who looked old enough to be grandparents. It was Tuesday morning and time to work on my blog.  Instead I stepped out the patio door to pick up sticks, sweep cement and wash away the bird poop on the windows.  Then I came inside and asked the Lord for His perspective.

The last sentence really hits home right now.  Every day when I get up I refuse to turn on the TV or look at news anywhere until time for Jerry to get up / take meds / breakfast / insulin.  But I'm wondering before that what is happening in Ukraine?  What has Putin done now?  Are all the refugees safe, warm and fed?  There are reportedly people starving in Ukraine that cannot get out.  

Critique of a TV commercial and my first visit to the Tri-County jail.  On my blog there's a generic picture of a woman in jail.  But on the podcast, and the words of the blog, I am visiting my daughter.  There is a window sealed into the wall between us and she is wearing a jump suit.

Sunday Devotional - Current Events The first book of the Bible . . Genesis chapter 4 tells about the rift between the two male children of Adam and Eve.  Cain killed Abel.  I used to have a problem remembering which man was murdered.  Then a Bible teacher said she remembers this:  Cain killed Abel with the leg of a table.  It rhymes.  I hope that does not sound disrespectful to scripture.  I was never mixed up again.  (about that anyway)

People hate this kind of talk.  Raw truth is never popular.  But here it is, bluntly spoken.  Because you run roughshod over the poor and take the bread right out of their mouths, you're never going to move into the luxury homes you have built . . . portion of Amos 5:10-12
